Our Wedding

We were married before we even met, not on a piece of paper, but in our souls.

We found Lyrebird Retreat previously in the winter time the year before and fell in love with its most divine romantic location, deep within the lush tropical rainforest up on the top of Springbrook Mountain. Complete with open fire and massive spa bath and sprinkled with tea light candles and wild flowers throughout the cabin, we found that this destination was so remote, that there wasn’t even any mobile phone coverage up there. This place was just the location we felt would be perfect for our wedding day, as each cottage was completely private and hidden from each other by little dirt tracks lined with lush ferns and giant trees inside the densest rainforest imaginable.

We bought some walkie talkies and booked all 4 cottages for three nights in the summer and invited all our children and closest friends to share in the weekend celebration.

We wrote the words for the ceremony ourselves, opting for the simplest and shortest possible. The ceremony was so intimate and only took about ten minutes in total, as we sipped French champagne before, during and after, to our favourite music wafting through the breeze.

Our Wedding Ceremony

David:

My name is David Berry and I welcome you here today to witness and celebrate Mark and Claire’s wedding day.

It is very special for Mark and Claire to be able to share this magic occasion with you their children, considering you normally have to get married first to have you. Welcome also to their best friends and to any stray yowies hiding out there in the bushes too.

I am duly authorised by law to solemnise this marriage according to the laws of Australia.

I am required to remind you Mark and you Claire publicly of the solemn, the serious and the binding nature of the relationship into which you are about to enter.

Marriage according to the law of Australia is the commitment of a man and a woman to each other, to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.

I call upon Mark and Claire to make their promises to each other.

Mark:

A thousand miles, a thousand lives. I realised when I met you that I had always been looking for you. Our time together will never be enough, but I give all of me, to you, for all the time I have.

You will always be free, and have my support, to be the person, who you really are. I love you, and will always love you, lust you, and be there for you and I call upon the persons here present to witness that I take you as my lawful wedded wife, for you Claire, my twin, are my one true love.

Claire:

I feel that you have been inside my soul always... Just like the moon following me around everywhere I go - forever, since I was just a little girl; and especially through the darkest of nights...

I will love you even if you behave differently than I think you should because I respect that we are all uniquely different and have the right to shine as we really are. And you are the brightest star my darling…

I promise to share this journey with you, to be your mistress and your wife all at the same time and so I give you my heart, my mind, my body and soul forever and always in such mysterious layers for you to explore for the rest of our time together and I call upon the persons here present to witness that I take you as my lawful wedded husband, for you are the one Mark; my own true love and my beloved twin flame.
